Homeless Liaison
The Whitebead School District is dedicated to providing all students with quality educational experiences. We recognize the challenges that homeless children and youth have faced in enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school. Whitebead School is committed to promoting greater stability for homeless children and youth by ensuring that each has equal access to the same free, appropriate public education as other children and youths. Additionally, homeless students will not be separated from the mainstream school environment. Whitebead School is dedicated to removing barriers of homeless students' access to academic and extracurricular activities as well as removing the stigma of homelessness.
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act guarantees a child who qualifies as homeless the right to attend one of two schools: the school of origin or the local attendance area school. For further information on the McKinney-Vento Act, visit the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) website at NCHE or contact the toll-free Help Line at 800-308-2145. Please contact the District's Homeless Liaison for additional assistance.
